I am a hurricane come to your shore I am a woman will not be ignored I am the waters that rise while you sleep You’ve tested me, tried me Now I’ll make you weep I’m done with compassion and you’re out of time You’ve shackled and bound me and stolen what’s mine Now I am vengeance – I stand at your door Your chains made me stronger Than ever before I am revolution I stand at your gate And you’ll never see me until it’s too late I am a cyclone - will level your pride I am a woman will not be denied I am the wildfire that you can’t outrun You think you can’t lose Well, I’ve already won I am retribution My hands deliver your fate And you’ll never see me until it’s too late I am revolution I am crashing your gate And you’ll never see me until it’s too late

6:42 and the devil overdue Sing for your life and your reputation too You’re unfit ‘cause you went back to work or you let the baby cry One little thing goes wrong and you’re disqualified. Well, Shut 'em down for your soul and your freedom. Sell 'em out, keep your soul and your freedom. That’s the dream, devil comes when you need him, child. 6:43 and they never let you be Spittin’ nails, splittin’ hairs to avoid equality Clutchin’ pearls any time something better comes to be When they say you’re bound for hell, well, tell 'em you’re the Queen. Yeah, Shut 'em down for your soul and your freedom Tune 'em out, save your soul and your freedom That’s the dream, devil comes when you need him, child 6:44 and the devil at the door They’ll say you’re a freak, you’re a foundling, a sorceress, a whore. Well, fuck 'em all ‘cause you know they’d have said it anyway. Tune it out, turn it off, kiss the baby, start the day. Yeah. Shut ‘em down, keep your soul and your freedom, Tune ‘em out for your soul and your freedom Tell the devil that you’re not gonna need him… ….child. Yeah, Shut ‘em down, keep your soul and your freedom, Vote ‘em out for your soul and your freedom Tell the devil that you’re not gonna need him, child.

Soloist 1: He put something in my drink, Forced himself on me that night. I was helpless, could not think, Can’t you see? Now I’m pregnant, not my choice. All my future options gone. Goddess, hear my desperate voice, Answer me! Voice of the Goddess: Oh my daughter, you are mine You hold my endless strength inside You can never be denied Duet: We will walk this path as one Soloist 2: Mary Alice was my friend, In the days of Eisenhower. Why so sad at summer’s end? Mary cried. “Pregnant, oh no, it can’t be! (voice of Mary) Can’t destroy my family” Paid someone to set her free. But, Mary died. The Goddess: Oh my daughter, you are mine You hold my endless strength inside You can never be denied Duet: We will walk this path as one All: How dare you try to challenge the Goddess Goddess: I am birth, I am death, I am mysteries untold All: How dare you try to limit the Goddess Goddess: I am choice far beyond what governments control All: How dare you try to hinder her power Goddess: I gave it to my daughters, it’s the right to rule their lives All: How dare you wreak this harm on her children Goddess: The bodies you’ve betrayed are not yours, they are mine All, spoken, overlapping: How dare you! Choir of 6 singers: When they struck down Roe v Wade I was in a state of shock Never thought I’d see this day. Choice is gone Women worked hard for this right Now we deal with shame and fear Goddess, help us in this fight Keep us strong Rights we’d had were jerked away By those who’ll never pay the price Hear the voice of women’s rage Right this wrong The Goddess: Oh my daughters, you are mine You hold my endless strength inside You can never be denied All: We will walk this path as one Final Chorus: all, including the Goddess How dare you try to challenge the Goddess I am birth, I am death, I am mysteries untold How dare you try to limit the Goddess I am choice far beyond what governments control How dare you try to hinder my power I gave it to my daughters, it’s the right to rule their lives How dare you wreak this harm on my children The bodies you’ve betrayed are not yours, they are mine. All, shouted: How dare you!

Great Grandmother - you held my Mother in your womb. Grandmother - in your womb my Mother held me. And in the times - I feel forsaken - you remind me to awaken. To the Power of the Goddess Flowing thru me. The Power of the Goddess Flows Thru Me The Power of the Goddess Flows Thru You. Thru our bodies thru our blood you remind us who we are. We are Precious, We are Sacred, Wild, & Free. Your Great Grandmothers - rocked your Mothers - in their wombs. In your - Grandmother’s wombs - your Mothers rocked you. Now hear these words that I have spoken. The Matriarchy can’t be broken. For the Power of the Goddess lives within You. The Power of the Goddess Lives in You. The Power of the Goddess Lives in Me. Thru our bodies & our blood we must remember what we’re made of. We are Precious, We Are Sacred, Wild, & Free. The Holy Grail of Life’s Within Us. Great Grandmothers, Sisters. Daughters. The Chalice Well of Life Flows Thru Us. Force of Nature, Love, and Pleasure. The Holy Grail of Life, SHE IS us Stirred & Shaken to Awaken…… The Power of the Goddess in You. The Power of the Goddess in Me. Thru our Mysteries & Blood We are a Force of Womanhood. We are Precious. We are Sacred, Wild, & Free. Thru our Mysteries & Blood We are The Force of Womanhood. We are Precious. We are Sacred, Wild, & Free. And Hear Me now…. This Cannot be Taken from You. This Cannot be Taken from Me. And though so many have tried. The Power Within Us Cannot be Denied. For We are Precious. Sacred. Wild. Power. Precious. Sacred. Wild. We are Power. And We are Free. (Descant) The Holy Grail of Life’s Within Us. Great Grandmothers, Sisters. Daughters. The Chalice Well of Life Flows Thru Us. Force of Nature, Love, and Pleasure. The Holy Grail of Life, SHE IS us. Stirred & Shaken to Awaken…… The Power of the Goddess. The Power of the Goddess. The Power of the Goddess. The Power of the Goddess.

On the maiden’s wedding night she ran into the dark Like a bird she flew into the wind Her husband was a cruel man, her father was a fool To marry her to such a man as this He hit her with his riding crop and forced her to the floor And left her crying broken on her knees (Bridge) Her husband he was rich as sin The man she loved was poor Her husband had him sent to fight the war Across the fields past standing stones to a cliff down by the sea She stood beneath the stars and rocks below Her husband on his great black horse galloping behind Was sure he had her now, she’d not be free Was sure he had her now, she’d not be free But like a bird she flew into the wind Like a bird she flew into the wind Like a bird she flew into the wind

Her diner job was meant to be temporary Emmeline smiled a sunrise smile while showing how many plates she could carry because this was just for a while Emmeline will never let you see the dreams that haunt her, she just says; “Sure, hon, you can have more water” Saving tips and wages for community college was gonna be her ticket out of this town But a misguided night of the carnal type of knowledge left her all alone learning to be a mom Emmeline will never let you see how her heart has bled, she just says; “Sure, hon, you can have more bread” It was a time and place where an abortion was not a choice She didn’t have the resources, support or skills to claim a voice No one cared about her dreams Now she finds she’s trapped here caring for a son who looks like her hazy memory of his father Used to be, she hoped she could be someone Now she thinks; “Why bother?” The customers ask her; “How’s it going?” She answers; “Fine” and thinks; “Goin’ nowhere” Each night she washes the stink of grease and desperation from her hair and tries to sleep without dreams. The customers like freight cars on an endless train Avid eyes impatient for a table Emmeline just works on at pace she can sustain through the weary day and lifetime if she’s able Emmeline will never let you see that the road she walks is rocky, She just says; “Sure, hon, you can have more coffee”

1. Legs, spread wide. First pain, then shock. She begged, and begged, for him, to please stop. Through muffled cries, rehooked his belt Don’t tell anyone, or else Chorus: Born of Crime, Born of Crime Look away. Pay no mind. Take her rights, don't touch mine! Roe vs Wade, human rights denied. Faith is law, now pay the fine. 'Nother vote, another dime... Born of Crime. 2. She stumbled in, scared and alone. her head, held down, tryin’, to lie low. Already knew, what doc spied, Suicide, pierced her mind. (repeat Chorus) Bridge: A song of strength, a song of hope, Our song of unity, a song to cope, A song that drowns their oppressive noise To have a voice, to have a choice. (Pause) 3. Her life, was taken away, that day She was forced, to bear the white, man's babe Laid on her deathbed, coddled and held, Her mother choked out, (spoken:) She's only 12! (small pause) (repeat Chorus… ending on “dime”)

Time, but is there time for us? Told, we cannot make a fuss Told, we have to give them trust Thrown, into a sea of rust Told we can not follow our road Time, but is there time for us? Told, we cannot make a fuss Told, we have to give them trust Thrown, into a sea of rust (Stay your lane, change your brain, all the same Down the road, you are told, change your name Change the frame, change the game, all the same Law is old, we are wise, you don’t know) For peace, you must turn back, the road For peace, you must turn back, the road For peace, do not follow, the road Time, there was a time for us Told we’re making too much fuss Told they will not honor trust Thrown into laws unjust (Stay your lane, change your brain, all the same Down the road, you are told, change your name Change the frame, change the game, all the same Law is old, we are wise, you don’t know) Told we should just follow their road For peace we must turn back their road For peace we must turn back their road For peace we won’t follow their road Time we make the time for us Told we must make a fuss Told we must not break the trust Thrown into the righteous thrust Told we must take back our road For peace we must follow our road For peace we must follow our road For peace we will follow our road

Young girl In sorrow Behind me Glanced over My shoulder To see Mother Arms wrapped Round her Father Did hold them There were three (now I see) Daughter Was sitting Beside me Three days followed the Solstice Into a harsh dawn Now I See them side by Sister Dust from the road In her eye She said “Everything’s gone.” Ah Viridity Was yesterday Carefree... Guileless… Sowing her rubies to ground Scarlett open your eyes On another day Wake up their temples will burn In their theater round Sisters of blood We are here to uplift you and Take Your Hand Don’t they know souls and bones Buried in gold ain’t no Promised Land We do not cry We do not lie down for Anything Brothers of bone Will you rise with the stones and let Freedom Ring Oh Viridity Her name was yesterday (Ah Ah Ah) Carefree... Guileless… Sowing her rubies to ground Sowing her rubies to ground Scarlett open your eyes There’s another way Wake up their temples are burning In theater round Scarlett open your eyes It’s another day Wake up their temples are ashes Now they are bound Scarlett open your eyes There’s another way Wake up their temples are ashes They've burned... (to the ground)

I speak the promise- I hold the creed- That I would try to heal all those in need- You take my funding- You shut me down- You force the harmed and hurting out of town- Hypocrisy! Hypocrisy! You call it “Proper”- You say it’s “Good”- You will not see that you’ve misunderstood- I do what’s needed- I ease their pain- Their right to choose is not ours to restrain! You claim compassion yet don’t hear them cry- You preach of oneness yet won’t meet my eye- You swear you do what higher law demands- Yet where’s it written, That it’s right to chain a healer’s hands? Hypocrisy! Hypocrisy! I must give counsel- You must condemn- I must provide safe passage now for them- You make the problem- I take the blame- Your oath and mine have not been spelled the same! It is only right if it agrees with you- The lies you follow, you believe are true- The hate and ignorance you cultivate expands- And when it turns against you, you will cry out for our healer’s hands! (Chorus) “Above all, I must not play at God” - You’ve sworn that too, though your interpretation’s rather odd- You say you’re acting from some law Devine- But Perfect Judgement is not yours to hold dominion over mine! Hypocrisy! Hypocrisy!
14.
Pull the Parachutes I want off of this plane I can see right now, it's headed for a ball of flames Pull the Parachutes We're headed straight down If we're going to crash I want to be facing the ground How can you look me in my eyes, And turn your head while my daughters all die? How can you even speak my name, Then allow your brothers to cause them so much pain And now, all I see are uncounted eyes Looking back at me and they show no surprise Pull the Parachutes They want off of this plane, They can see right now, it's headed for a ball of flames Pull the Parachutes They're headed straight down, if it's going to crash, They wanna be facing the ground. Pull the Parachutes When will you ever realize, That from my breath sprung all of life? When will you ever finally see? Just how lonely this old world would be? And now all I see are uncounted eyes. Not sanctity, but a price for their lives. Pull the Parachutes They want off of this plane. They can see right now, it's headed for a ball of flames. Pull the Parachutes It's headed straight down If they're going to crash they want to be facing the ground Pull those Parachutes

(with opening poem by Darlene Umbel) She can breathe calm, And she can breathe fire She can be both dragon and the slayer She can be the light And she can be the depth of darkness For she, herself, has been to that place/those places And found light with letting go She can be quiet and take it all in She can be boisterous and bold And keep them at bay She can be sarcastic and protect herself first For she has already been self-deprecating And insulted herself away So she chose her words more carefully And her kind words to herself helped to heal her soul She can be grace and poise And not “need” to make so much noise She can be gentle and at ease She can stand taller and know she can have peace For she believes first in herself And so shall it be... And so she can be You will not tell me that I'm not who I am You will not tell me I'm not true You will not take what I do not freely give I take my power back from you For the ones who lived in darkness For the ones who lived in fear And wear the scars of hurt and grief and pain Listen to the heartbeat of the Mother as she cries And reaches out to help you break the chain. You will not tell me that I'm not who I am You will not tell me I'm not true You will not take what I do not freely give I take my power back from you I take all my power back from you
16.
When she was just a child, her world made her wild. Her family smiled, but they all pulled away. With no place left to go, cast out and on her own Fightin' hard to keep the wolves at bay. When troubles come, it's like a flood. There ain't nothing holy but the blood. There ain't nothing holy but the blood. No, there ain't nothing holy but the blood. She's barely getting any rest. She just failed the test. How's she gonna care for a child? She can barely feed herself. There is just nothing left. The frustration causes her to rage and scream and cry. When troubles come, it's like a flood. There ain't nothing holy but the blood. There ain't nothing holy but the blood. No, there ain't nothing holy but the blood. Sitting, exhausted... Poor, broken girl. The law says she's gotta bring another unwanted child into this world. So she takes another drink, the pills start to make her think, About the cruelty as she fades away, her whole life unfurled. When troubles come, it's like a flood. There ain't nothing holy but the blood. There ain't nothing holy but the blood. No, there ain't nothing holy but the blood.
17.
They think we’ll just lay down and take it Like we’ve done so many times before That we’ll just close our eyes and fake it Let our fears disappear us into Broken obedient whores (Chorus 1) I dunno about you But I’ve been there and I’m through Kissing ass, holding back my sass While they take everything from me (Chorus 2) I’m gonna be loud and proud I’m gonna stand up and take up space If you don’t like it get outta my face My body is mine all mine Don’t get it twisted it ain’t your place If you don’t like it get outta my space I don’t answer to you My body is mine all mine They want to turn back time Make our world match the fantasy In their minds Donna Reed, hand-pressed tweed Picket fences and false pretenses While their jackboots on our necks Choke out our last breath (Chorus 1) (Chorus 2) I am woman, hear me roar Go ahead and try to take me down While I kick down all these doors I am woman, hear me roar Go ahead and try to take me down I’ll leave you broken on the floor (Chorus 2)

Oh Goddess help them They don't understand That she is her herself Not owned by any man Lord and Lady help them Ignorance is no excuse I respect your views but Don't push them on everyone Ohhh Help them (Spoken) - I awoke to a clear blue PSG summer sky that June 24th. Three years lost prior to fear and reformatting and then I heard the words that made me snap. My daughter immediately came to mind and I wept followed by furious anger then they mixed. There are far too many fights we must face but they will see. (Music stops) We are angered and a reckoning will come. We must help them Do they think we will not fight? Do they think they got it right? Oh my Goodness help them Oh my Goddess please! Lord and Laaaady Oh ooooooooohhhs Lord and Lady your power I now call To help them truly see whats wrong To rectify these mistakes So we can start the healing Lord and Lady hear us! Goddess help them Oh Goddess help them Goddess help us Lord and Lady, help us Oh oh Oh oh Oh oh So mote it be Oh Goddess help us.....

about

The Red Album: Pagan Voices for Reproductive Rights is a compilation album to raise money to support abortion access and reproductive/human rights organizations.

The many artists who gifted a track to this project have created a diverse expression of solidarity. They lend their voices to manifest a future where people are free to choose what is done with their own bodies. With drums, strings, breath, and heart you can feel their anguish, defiance, hope and blessings in this music that is magic.
The idea for The Red Album was born during a panel discussion at Pagan Spirit Gathering June of 2022. During a discussion panel for Pagan Songwriters, just after the announcement that Roe v. Wade was overturned, the panelists were inspired, with passion, to write protest songs for bodily autonomy, freedom to choose and abortion rights.
After the festival, the discussion continued online and on the phone across the country. It was decided to create a compilation, called The Red Album, with each artist to gift one original not previously released song. Much like The Green Album released in 2016, with an environmental action theme to raise money for the Rainforest Trust, The Red Album will raise money for abortion access and reproductive/human rights organizations. Both are compilations by Pagan artists whose diverse spiritual paths encompasses one or more of the earth based and/or multi-theistic practices.
All the proceeds from the sale of the album will go to the National Abortion Federation ( prochoice.org ) and Elevated Access ( elevatedaccess.org ). The mission of the National Abortion Federation is to unite, represent, serve, and support abortion providers in delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care. Elevated Access, launched in April 2022, is a volunteer pilot network that flies people in private aircraft at no cost to access abortion and gender-affirming care.

Quotes about The Red Album Project:

“They kicked a hornet’s nest.
Buzzing up from the angry hive, we bring you The Red Album. While we, the musicians who are building this project, are hurt and angry, we are also determined to give voice to the voiceless, make a rallying point in song, give our time and energy to making it clear that ALL human rights must be defended and that rulings such as the overturning of Roe cannot stand.”
-Kiki Williamson of Spiral Rhythm

“…It is time we call the ancient Goddesses to come to our aid, and with their strength, to stand up for what is right for the women of this world…. “ – Meren King

“…We wanted to express our grief and outrage at the loss of reproductive choice, and give voice to the Goddess as she pours out comfort and strength to support us in working to regain our rights…” - Crow Women

“I believe wholeheartedly in personal sovereignty.  Each person must have the right to exercise freedom to choose what they deem is in alignment for their own bodies, minds, spirits, and time.  I am here to awaken and remind women of our undeniable worth and power. We are precious, we are sacred, wild, and FREE.”  - Celia Farran
